AVATAR is an established and successful full-service marketing agency with digital at the core owned by Zibusiso Mkhwanazi and Veli Ngubane.

AVATAR unites a professional team of over 30 marketers which consists of creatives, developers, writers, strategists, account managers, producers and many others. We create ideas with impact to some of the world’s most recognized brands including Brand South Africa, National Geographic, Fox International Channels and South African Airways to disruptive challenger brands like us.

We help our customers of all shapes and sizes decide what’s next for their business, and then we take them there by helping them build great brands and engaging customer experiences.

In this constantly evolving digital world, the connection between people and brands is constantly evolving.

Today’s customers demand more from brands than ever before. They expect memorable engagements from the brands in their lives, rewarding those that deliver and punishing those that don’t. This is why we think todays companies need a special kind of agency to partner with them. Zibusiso Mkhwanazi

Zibusiso Mkhwanazi

Chief Executive Officer

At the age of 17 in 2001, Zibusiso co-founded Csonke.com a web development business with R2000. Eleven years later, He co-founded AVATAR and now heads the integrated agency with digital at the core.

Zibusiso has over 20 awards and accolades from various bodies including being named Top ICT individual in Africa and selected as one of the World Economic Forums Young Global Leaders placing him in an elite group that includes the founders of Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Zibusiso has attended leadership programs at two Ivy League universities namely Harvard and YALE.

Zibusiso is also the founder of David’s League, a mentorship program that balances issues of spirituality and business and has had over 500 small businesses though its doors. He is also a trustee of the NEET, which has provided over 4000 ICT bursaries to underprivileged young people.

Veli Ngubane

Chief Creative Officer

Armed with a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Cape Town and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing and Advertising Communication from the Red and Yellow School of Advertising, Veli Ngubane is the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of AVATAR.

Veli’s experience lies in working with leading brands as a strategist, which combined with his diverse background, has given Veli a broader insightful perspective of the target market that has led to results-driven creative concepts.
Veli’s interest lies in the growth of digital and social media both locally and on the African continent to which he is deeply invested.
