AVATAR has appointed Brett Wild as its executive creative director in its Johannesburg office. “We are honoured to have Brett join the AVATAR family,” says AVATAR CCO, Veli Ngubane. “This appointment is in line with our vision to be respected internationally and preferred locally by clients in the markets in which we operate. We needed a person with a strong global creative track record to enable us to move closer to this vision and Brett was the obvious choice.”
Wild worked his way up from art direction at Hunt Lascaris and Ogilvy to ECD of Saatchi & Saatchi South Africa. He then moved on to lead Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore before launching his own production company, hammersmith and elephant.
Wild is among a number of recent appointments that indicate AVATAR is looking to spread further beyond South Africa’s borders, says Ngubane. Mpange Chapeshamano joined AVATAR in February 2017 as managing director of the Johannesburg office, and Neo Mashigo will assist at AVATAR’s Cape Town office in his new role as creative partner at M&C Saatchi Abel.
